ABOUT SUNSET FUN CHILDRENS FURNITURE
Simon Benjamin arrived in South Africa with his family from Lithuania in the 1930’s. As an experienced woodworker, he joined a company manufacturing dining room suites.
In the late 1930’s Simon started his own furniture manufacturing business in Johannesburg. Simon’s son, Philip Benjamin joined the business after attending trade school and is still active in the business after 55 years!
Jeff Shulman, Philip’s son, is the current owner. Jeff actually qualified as an engineer in 1989 but joined the family firm in the 1990’s to maintain the family continuity.
In the 1980’s and 1990’s the company, then Stylish Furniture Manufacturers, manufactured domestic furniture, mainly in pine and working with upholsterers, and supplied mainly to large retail stores.
In 2000 Sunset Furniture closed and Jeff took the opportunity to take over their range of furniture and this has evolved into Sunset Fun Childrens Furniture.
Jeff applies his engineering background in all designs, ensuring that every item is designed, manufactured and installed correctly. Safety is a major concern and Sunset Fun’s furniture incorporates such features as:
• Flat –stepped ladders
• Reinforced bed bases
• Firm spring or foam mattresses
• Headroom sufficient to sit below bunks
• Double safety rails
• Stable construction
These are things that are often missed or ignored by other manufacturers and many people are left unhappy with their purchases.
Sunset Fun displays at various exhibitions including Homemakers Faire. The showroom in Booysens is open to the public Monday to Friday 07:00 to 16:30 and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 13:00. Customers are welcome to drop in or make an appointment to see us.
